We all know the basics. Stay away from fats, sugar and bulky foods. We know that they can cause heart disease, strokes, obesity and fatigue. We also know that we are weak in our choices and often figure it is OK to cheat once in awhile. After all, we are pressed for time, so what will it hurt to go through the drive through just once. Well, if you look back to the beginning of the week, you probably stopped somewhere each day, and grabbed something unhealthy.
Monday, you were running late, so stopped and grabbed a doughnut and coffee. Did you know that doughnut was 400 calories and almost all of that was from fat. Chances are, you will still feel hungry soon after, since all the calories came from fat, it did nothing to appease your appetite or boost your metabolism Tuesday it was a cheeseburger and fries. You were taking a short lunch because you had extra work to do. The saturated fat in that meal, through tons of research, has been the cause of many heart attacks and strokes. Wednesday you grabbed some chicken nuggets, because chicken is supposed to be healthy, right? But what is in the breading, and the pressed chicken? How about 420 calories, all from fat, and 1120 milligrams of sodium (yuck). Need I go on? Check out the back of Oscar Myers Luncheables, Sugary coated cereals, Processed meats and canned soup. After doing this, you most certainly will want to change your attitude about grabbing something quick to eat. Maybe you should take the time for a good breakfast, pack your own lunch, and fix a healthy meal at the end of the day. |
