Using Natural Seasonings

One of the reasons that fast food, pre-packaged food and some restaurant food tastes so good, is the seasonings that they use. Most of these places rely on salt and salt flavorings for their food. Salt is good for many things, but only if it is used sparingly. Too much salt can actually cause High Blood Pressure, Edema, Heart Disease and Kidney Stones. Your body does need a certain amount of salt to function right, but not near as much as the average American eats on a daily basis.

If you like your food flavor-able, there are natural herbs and spices that can be used in your cooking. Many of these are actually good for your body, but most of them are not harmful in any way. It depends on what you use and the amount that you use. For example, if you are considering how to flavor your salad or vegetables you could use such spices as pepper, garlic, dill, paprika, parsley and almond.

If you are flavoring your soups or stews you can use garlic, dill, paprika, pepper, cayenne, almond, sage, oregano, chili peppers, lemon rind, chives, lemon grass and basil. For roasting your beef, chicken or fish you could try oregano, sage, cayenne, garlic, chives, paprika, parsley and almond. For baking you may want to use honey, almond, lemon rind, lemon grass, molasses and un-refined sugar.

A lot of these spices and herbs can be used in any kind of cooking. They are low or no calorie flavorings that are good for you body and don't do any kind of the damage that salt and artificial manufactured flavor enhancers do. You will be doing your body a great big favor by using these instead of chemicals and/or salt for your flavorings.
