Do you really understand what kind of preservatives are in your food? You may read the labels, and think you know what some of them are, but what about the ones you aren't sure of. Many people, who are trying to eat healthier, still don't understand what the preservatives are in their food. Many of them think that if the list isn't long, then they are buying and eating healthier. Not So!!! You need to know what they are and what they can do to your insides and your health.
Below are a few samples of some of the preservatives used in food, and the damage or conditions they can cause or encourage.
Lets just take a few, and then we will go into what they actually are. For instance, decaffeinated coffee contains methylene chloride, yellow cheese has coloring and titanium oxide, your bread may have all or part of the following ingredients, sodium-stearoyl-2-lactylate, caramel and calcium propionate. Your sausages may contain nitrates.
Methylene Chloride, also known as Dichloromethane is actually a form of a volatile solvent. Titanium Oxide, yes actually contains Titanium, and is used for coloring in food, however it is also used for paints, coatings, and in most toothpaste, now get this, titanium oxide can also violent reactions with other metals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, zinc and lithium. Most vitamins contain several of these minerals, and lithium is used in medicine for Bipolar disorder.
Calcium propionate is used in bakery items to prevent mold and increase the shelf life. This one is listed as being a slightly TOXIC ??????
And last but not least, Nitrates have been proven to cause cancer!!!!! So if you can't read and understand exactly what is on the label of the food you buy, then it is probably better to put that can or package back on the shelf and find an organic or all natural brand that you can actually understand the ingredients on. |
