The Best Way to Lose Weight

Did you know that changing your eating habits, exercise habits and stress level can help you keep the unwanted pounds off? What does stress have to do with being overweight? When we are stressed, we tend to give in to those cravings for carbohydrates. Research also indicates that there is a hormone related to stress and weight, and when we are stressed, that hormone doesn't function right and we gain pounds.

Change your eating habits first. Your portion size should be ½ plate for vegetables and fruits, ¼ plate for your starches like pasta and potatoes, and ¼ plate for your protein such as red meat, chicken or fish. Cut down your portion sizes, also from week to week. Use smaller plates if necessary. It is also suggested that you eat five very small meals a day instead of three larger meals.

Start walking. Walk as much as you can each day. Walk in the morning, even if it is just around the block, ½ hour after your breakfast. Walk around the building during your breaks and at lunch time also. Walk for twenty to thirty minutes one half hour after your evening meals. Park as far as you can from the doors of the stores and malls and walk the distance. Take the stairs up and down as often as possible instead of the elevator.

Now, reduce your stress. Try meditation. You can do this while walking, at your desk, sitting in your living room, bedroom and even at the sink while doing the dinner dishes. All you have to do is start thinking about something relaxing and calm. Leave work at work. Get some hobbies, or do some reading. Relax in a hot tub with aromatherapy candles. Read a good book.
