Eating Over the Holidays

Did you pig out at Thanksgiving?  And now here comes Christmas. You see all the goodies on the shelves already. There are all kinds of Christmas Cookies, Nut logs, Cakes, Pies, oh and all that candy.

Not to mention what might be on the table for dinner. I've seen spreads that had Turkey, Ham and Roast, along with sweet potatoes, baked potatoes, macaroni salad, potato salad and rice.

There might be a veggie tray. For certain there will be stuffing, green bean casserole and biscuits. There will be deviled eggs and relish trays and butter, and salt and egg nog, and hot cider and ice cream to top the pies.

Then there are the leftover. You save some, and some you leave on trays in the fridge just to pick on. I remember when I was young, everyone would go back several times and pick at the turkey, and the stuffing and the pies. Mom wouldn't even put the food away until just before bedtime because everyone was eating constantly.

And we say to ourselves, its a Holiday and this is ok, and then spend the next 3 months trying to get rid of all the fat from the food and treats we ate in November and December.

There is an easier way. You can try all the dishes, and some of the treats. Just take small portions though. Don't eat too much. I now some of your were raised that you should eat everything on your plate because people in China are starving. I was raised the same way.

If you don't put big portions on your plate, and only enough to where you will fee comfortable, then you won't waste food and you also will not be absorbing as many calories and fat.
Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New Year !!!!
