I recently did some research on diets. I looked at the Atkins Diet which almost totally eliminates carbohydrtes.
Then I looked at the Zone Diet, which claims that weight loss depends on three hormones, Insulin, Glucagon, and Eicosanoids. If you teach yourself to eat according to the way this diet states, then it will balance these hormones and eliminate silent inflammation and you will lose weight and remain healthy the rest of your life.
The Third one I looked at was the Cabbage soup diet. Now this one is all natural, but is for quick, short termed weight loss. I tried this one years ago and lost a few pounds right away, but got so tired of cabbage soup, that I very rarely ever eat it now.
Now if you really want to lose weight and be healthy, the first thing you need to do is look at how you eat and your medical problems. If you are very overweight and have high cholesterol or heart problems, then you need to go with a heart healthy diet. This includes a lot of vegetables and fruits.
Look at your portion sizes, cut them in about half. Replace your sweet snacks with fresh crispy vegetables and fruits like fresh baby carrots, slices of green pepper, cherry tomatoes, grapes or apples. Your heart, general health and taste buds will thank you.
Eliminate your salted chips, candy, cookies and donuts. Eat bagels, whole grain bread and unsalted saltines instead.
Another thing that works for most people. Eat 5 small healthy snacks a day instead of 3 full meals. This spaces out you calorie intake, giving the body time to burn off anything you consume, and it keeps your metabolism at an even level and helps keep your energy rate steady through the day.
Eating like this will help eliminate that crash and burn effect you get from loading yourself down with caffiene and sugar to keep yourself going.
Its all about eating healthy. If you look at most of these diets, they include healthy foods in small proportions.
Include exercise in your daily routine. If you can't devote a lot of time to exercise, here are a few hints. Walk for about 10 to 15 minutes one half hour after your evening meal. When you go shopping, park at the end of the lot and walk up to the store. Go out and sweep your porch and sidewalks. The sweeping motion is a very good exercise for your upper body and burns up a lot of calories.
Go for a bike ride. Go up and down the stairs a few times, or take the stairs instead of using the elevator. Just small changes in your normal routine will help you incorporate some exercise in and burn some calories off.
