Are you Really Buying Organic?

You walk over to the organic section at your grocey store. You pick up cello wrapped lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and celery or one of those mixed salads. The package says organic on the outside. Are you sure thats what it said? Could it have possibly said made with organic ingredients? Better read the small print.

What does organic really mean. It means that foods are grown according to certain standards. Some of these standards are being grown without conventional pesticides, artificial fertilizer, human waste or sewage sludge.

The FDA guidelines for organic : If they are 95% according to above standards they can use "Organic" on their label, if they are 70% they can use "made with organic ingredients. If they are below 70% they cannot use the term "Organic" other than to identify specific ingredients that are organic.
